This early “open head”  high wheel bicycle has buffalo horn handlebar grips and bronze headset bearings. The wheels are made true by tightening nipples to the front and rear hubs. Note the rear wheel operated brake, a left over from the velocipede,which was applied via a cord by twisting the handle bar.
