2 Bown's Rob Roy Lamps Circa 1890

Various manufacturers had a tendency to recycle names and apply them to similar products. This is evident when viewing these two oil lamps for safety bicycles offered by Wm.Bown's of Birmingham, England. Rob Roy MacGregor (1671 - 1734) was a Scottish outlaw that later became a folk hero. Both lamps are the large No.3 size and measure 6 inches tall. The add pictured below dates from 1891 and features both of these lamps however with different names. Not a problem as all Bown's had to do was change the name badge and re-brand the same lamp.
