Victor Model “C” Cushion Tire 1891

This early safety bicycle employs an unusual spring suspension fork. It has cushion tires, a form of hollow rubber tubing, which was the forerunner to the pneumatic tire. A similar machine was used by American wheelman Frank Lenz on his ill fated world tour of 1892. Three quarters of the way toward completion of his epic journey Lenz disappeared in eastern Turkey, in what is now known as Kurdistan.
