Model M. Chainless E.C. Stearns Syracuse, New York 1899

Model M. Chainless E.C. Stearns Syracuse, New York 1899 This bike is very similar to the one built by Stearns for Major Taylor using the Sager gear chainless mechanism designed by Harry Sager. Taylor broke several World Records on a similar machine. In 1895 George Loher, a butcher from Oakland, California rode a Stearns Yellow Fellow across the United States from San Francisco to New York. A Stearns poster read, “Ride a Stearns and be content.”
