Just as contemporary cyclists have the desire to know their distance traveled so did the riders in Victorian times. The device for this was the cyclometer. The Ritchie Magnetic cyclometer was offered by the Pope Manufacturing Company, makers of the Columbia bicycle. This cyclometer is for a 54 inch wheel and dates to the era of the Ordinary or high wheel bicycle circa 1885.
